The Digital education officer reports to the Senior Education Programme Specialist. ResponsibilitiesSupport the design and implementation of digital blended learning strategies and initiatives in UNRWA Schools: Collaborates with the education staff at HQA and in the fields of operation, to support the design and implementation of effective blended learning experiences in the classrooms. Collaborates with subject matter experts both at HQA and in the fields of operation, to update digital resources that align with curriculum standards and best practices and to evaluate digital learning resources and materials. Supports the implementation of digital assessment tools and methods to measure student progress and performance. Stays abreast of emerging trends and technologies in digital education to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of innovation. Capacity building: Supports the implementation of capacity building in digital pedagogy for educators and collects feedback from the fields of operation to inform the review of the digital education frameworks and capacity building packages for teachers. Supports the enhancement of capacities for school principals and deputy principals in the management and administration of digital schools through the development and implementation of a capacity building package, in collaboration with education staff at HQA and in the fields of operation. Provides ongoing support and professional development to enhance teachers' digital pedagogy practices, to ensure effective integration of digital tools in teaching and learning processes. Guides the fields in implementing different digital learning models at school level by leveraging the UNRWA digital ecosystem which prioritizes MS 365 for education tools and ensuring alignment with global best practices in digital pedagogy. The incumbent will explore MS 365 for education digital tools and resources to guide their use in blended learning classrooms. and advise alternatives to complement or augment teachersโ€™ experiences. Knowledge management and exchange: Identifies best practices, document lessons learned from in-school implementation of blended learning initiatives Facilitates knowledge sharing and collaboration across schools and fields. Monitoring and evaluation Supports the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of blended learning initiatives. Uses data and stakeholders feedback to continuously improve digital education strategies and practices, and generate reports on user engagement, learning outcomes, and the effectiveness of digital education initiatives. Contributes to reporting against the strategic plan, and reports to projectsโ€™ donors and partners as required, and on the state of digital education in UNRWA in general. Job - Specific QualificationNot available. Work ExperienceAt least 5 years of professional experience working in digital education at a national or international level is required. Proven experience in design and implementation of capacity building for teachers, in service, preferably in digital education or similar areas is required. Strong knowledge of digital tools, online learning platforms, and educational technologies is required. Experience with emerging technologies in the context of education (e.g. AI in education, gamification, etc.) is required. Excellent knowledge of MS-Office., and of MS 365 for education is required. Knowledge of Palestine refugees and/or humanitarian response and development in the Middle East is desirable. Experience in the delivery of digital education, capacity building and professional development of in-service teachers is desirable.
