ContextSustainable Aid through Voluntary Establishment (SAVE-Ghana) is a leading civil society organization based in Tumu, Upper West Region of Ghana, working to promote peace, inclusion, and resilience among marginalized and livestock-dependent communities. In Northern Ghana, online misinformation and hate narratives have increasingly contributed to community tension and violence, especially around land use, mobility, and ethnicity. This project forms part of SAVE-Ghanaโs broader digital peacebuilding initiative to strengthen early warning and response systems using innovative technologies. Volunteers will work remotely, collaborating with SAVE-Ghanaโs peacebuilding and IT teams to conceptualize and implement the prototype.
Task DescriptionSAVE-Ghana seeks skilled online volunteers to work in a team to co-develop a technology platform powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) for early detection and mitigation of inflammatory narratives spreading on social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and TikTok. The goal is to create a digital peacebuilding tool that can identify, track, and analyze online messages that have the potential to escalate local tensions, especially among etheric tens communities and livestock-dependent communities in Northern Ghana. Online Volunteers will help: โข Design and build an AI system capable of natural language processing (NLP) and sentiment analysis to detect harmful or inflammatory narratives. โข Develop a dashboard interface to visualize real-time alerts and trend data for peace actors. โข Integrate data privacy and ethical AI principles into the platform. โข Support SAVE-Ghana in building digital capacity for local peace actors to use the system effectively.
