Mission and objectivesEnabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet), formerly Agoro Community Development Association (ACDA), is a women-centered, community-based organization in Northern Uganda near the South Sudan border. Established in 2001, ERONet empowers marginalized communities through sustainable development initiatives in education, health, and livelihoods. Our mission is to alleviate suffering and create opportunities for sustainable development in rural and post-conflict settings, focusing on vulnerable women, adolescent girls, and people living with disabilities. Through interventions in water and sanitation, agricultural education, disaster risk management, property rights advocacy, child marriage prevention, and girls' education, ERONet has significantly improved rural livelihoods, fostered gender equity, and strengthened community resilience, breaking cycles of poverty and ensuring long-term development.

ContextThis assignment is part of ERONet’s organizational strengthening initiative, aimed at improving our financial management systems to secure long-term sustainability and attract larger, multi-year grants. Strengthening our financial policy will directly contribute to: Increasing transparency and accountability Meeting eligibility requirements for major donors and foundations Building trust with partners and stakeholders Supporting ERONet’s mission to empower rural women and adolescent girls

Task DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled online volunteer to develop a comprehensive Financial Policy for ERONet. This policy will guide budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, internal controls, and cash management, aligning with international donor requirements and Ugandan NGO regulations. The volunteer will: Review ERONet’s existing financial practices and identify gaps Draft a clear and practical financial policy tailored for a small but high-impact women-centered NGO Align the policy with international donor standards and local compliance requirements Provide recommendations for implementation and capacity-building for staff The work will involve virtual collaboration with our Executive Director and Finance & Administrative Manager through email, shared documents, and weekly online meetings (Zoom/Google Meet). Upon successful completion, the online volunteer will receive a United Nations Volunteer (UNV) Certificate of Appreciation to acknowledge their contribution.
