The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO)ย is an international organization dedicated to securing the macroeconomic and financial resilience and stability of the ASEAN+3 region - comprising 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and China; Hong Kong, China; Japan; and Korea. AMRO is seeking a dynamic and highly qualified professional to serve asย Deputy Director (CMIM, Strategy and Coordination), a key Senior Management position reporting directly to the AMRO Director. This key leadership role will manage AMRO's strategy and coordination functions, supervise AMRO's policy and review functions, and support the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation (CMIM), while also providing strategic oversight for AMRO's TA activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Deputy Director (CMIM, Strategy and Coordination) will report to the AMRO Director and perform the following functions:

Manage mid- to long-term issues of strategic importance, particularly those with implications for the direction and performance of AMRO in the long run (such as developing AMRO's strategic plan, including MTIP, TA strategy, etc.).Lead and manage AMRO's policy and review functions, strengthening AMRO's surveillance policies, providing independent reviews of surveillance reports and CMIM program documents, and developing policies to support the RFA/CMIM reforms (*examples of the reforms include changes to financing structure and introduction of new facilities).Lead and manage the planning, implementation, and supervision of AMRO's support function for the CMIM mechanism and strategy design (benchmark setting, guideline design, CMIM legal framework, etc.) in coordination with the Chief Economist, and support the smooth CMIM activation process.Lead and manage AMRO's communications activities and enhance AMRO's outreach, visibility, and credibility at an international level.Build and strengthen AMRO's relationships and strategic collaborations with other international organizations (IOs) in related fields.Lead and manage AMRO's engagements and communications with ASEAN+3 member authorities.Lead and manage AMRO's provision of secretariat support to the ASEAN+3 financial cooperation, AMRO Flagship Forum, and ASEAN+3 Finance Think-tank Network.Coordinate with other relevant Senior Management to ensure the successful execution of all job responsibilities.Perform other functions as may be determined by the Director in accordance with the AMRO Agreement.

Excellent educational background Qualification: Graduate degree in public/business administration, economics, finance, law, or other related fields from a reputable university.Deep understanding of the design and mechanism of the CMIM, and intensive and updated knowledge in international finance/development finance/financial cooperation/macroeconomic surveillance, in particular on the legal framework, design, and mechanism of the IMF, other international or regional arrangements, and bilateral swaps Qualification: Around 10 years of direct hands-on work experience in handling CMIM issues or international finance/development finance/financial cooperation/macroeconomic surveillance-related issues at IOs, including the IMF and other relevant international financial institutions (IFIs), national government institutions, or similar establishments. Proficient in global and regional financial safety nets at national government institutions and/or IOs.Added Advantage: Direct hands-on work experience in handling the IMF and other relevant IFIs' assistance systems at the IMF, other relevant IFIs, or national government institutions.Rich experience in strategic and policy planning, coordination in national government institutions and/or IOs, and excellent communication and international negotiation skills in international financial cooperationConsiderable experience in managing and leading a diverse team with different cultural backgrounds, or successful experience working within such a diverse team, or demonstrated international experience working in a diverse cultural environmentStrong network contacts internationally, including within the ASEAN+3 region and IOs in related fields

TERM

The Deputy Director (CMIM, Strategy and Coordination) will serve a three-year term, with the possibility of a one-time extension for up to three additional years. The ed candidate is expected to join AMRO in September 2025.
