5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesYouth Co:Lab positions young people front and center in order to solve the regionโ€™s most pressing challenges. Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship.

ContextIn the Asia-Pacific region, over 700 million young people are striving to make a difference every day. Many are launching social enterprises and community initiatives to tackle urgent challengesโ€”from climate resilience and education access to gender equity and youth unemployment. Yet, while these young changemakers are brimming with ideas and purpose, one of their biggest barriers is access: access to the right funding, mentorship, and visibility at the right time. Navigating the global ecosystem of grants, fellowships, accelerators, and competitions can be overwhelming, especially for those from underrepresented or remote communities. As a result, many promising ideas never get off the groundโ€”not due to lack of potential, but lack of support. To unlock the full potential of youth-led innovation, we must close this opportunity gap. By mapping and sharing relevant, timely, and inclusive support opportunities, we can empower young social entrepreneurs with the tools they need to grow their ideas, scale their impact, and shape a more equitable future for all.

Task DescriptionWe are looking for 2 experienced Online Volunteers who, under the supervision of the youth team of UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub, will support the mapping of data on global funding opportunities for youth social entrepreneurs. More specifically, the Online Volunteer will be asked to: - Discuss and align on the objective and scope of opportunity mapping with the UNDP Youth Co:Lab team - Use an existing system (eg. Airtable, WordPress) to collect, organize, and categorize data - Update the opportunity database and ensure completeness and consistency of entries - Transfer and input curated opportunity data from the existing database into another system, ensuring accuracy, formatting consistency, and proper tagging or categorization based on the destination platformโ€™s structure. The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to collaborate with the youth team at UNDP and contributing to a regional effort to improve access to resources for emerging social entrepreneurs.
