Work LocationJordan Field Office - Programme Support Office Expected durationMore than 3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Data Management and Reporting Officer in PSO, the Intern may be assigned matters such as: โ€ข Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct data collection from various Programme Offices and relevant units. Undertake research to identify suitable qualitative and quantitative data and support ensuring the adequacy and reliability of data presented in all reports โ€ข Data Integration & Modelling: Develop and execute SQL queries to extract, join and aggregate data from multiple sources (databases, spreadsheets, APIs). Assist in designing or updating basic database schemas and data models to support reporting needs โ€ข Data-Quality & Metadata Management: Define and implement data-quality rules (e.g. validation checks, completeness thresholds). Document metadata and maintain data dictionaries to ensure consistency and reliability โ€ข Dashboard & Visualization Development: Build, maintain and optimize interactive dashboards in Power BI. Apply data-visualization best practicesโ€”layout, interactivity and storytellingโ€”to present insights clearly โ€ข Project/Programme Support: Support strengthening of Project/Programme Cycle Management, including developing and updating work plans, budgets, monitoring templates, other relevant documents โ€ข Meeting Coordination: Help organize, coordinate and participate in meetings, including taking minutes when requested โ€ข Perform other related duties as required, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team and projects Qualifications/special skillsโ€ข Applicants must be current students or recent graduates (within one year of graduation) with a bachelorโ€™s degree or higher in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field. โ€ข Applicants are not required to have professional work experience, although prior work experience will be an advantage. โ€ข Excellent technical skills are required including: - MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas) and SQL - Power BI or a similar BI platform (Tableau, QlikView) - Familiarity with database design and schema concepts - Understanding of data-quality frameworks and metadata management - Exposure to data-visualization best practices (layout, interactivity, storytelling) Languagesโ€ข Excellent command of spoken and written English. Additional InformationBACKGROUND: The Programme Support Office (PSO) of UNRWA Jordan Field Office (JFO) leads on strategic and programme planning, results monitoring and reviewing, evaluation of programmes and projects, systems strengthening, and supporting the Front Office in providing strategic direction of programme interventions.
