Background

WorldFish implements a diverse and growing portfolio of projects across small-scale fisheries, aquaculture systems, digital transformation, and food systems research. A high volume of reports, scientific articles, training materials, and technical documentation is generated by multidisciplinary teams, often requiring final content review to ensure scientific clarity, accuracy, and alignment with programmatic priorities. WorldFish, seeks part-time (Retainer Position) support to review and summarize key project outputs, ensuring scientific coherence and quality control where direct involvement is not feasible due to time constraints.

Reviewing and suggesting edits for training and capacity-building materials (e.g. slide decks, field manuals, guidance notes). Ensuring alignment of technical documents with project goals, scientific accuracy, and consistency in language and style. Providing light editorial feedback (scientific rather than copyediting focus). Occasionally drafting short summaries, executive summaries, or feedback memos for internal communication or decision-making. Participating in short virtual check-ins (e.g. once every 2\u20133 weeks) as needed.

Requirements

MSc or PhD in fisheries science, aquaculture, marine biology, or related field. Demonstrated experience with scientific writing and reviewing in English. Native or fluent English language proficiency (written and spoken). Familiarity with CGIAR programs, small-scale fisheries, digital innovation, or aquatic food systems is a strong asset.
