About this position
We are looking for a professional in the field of economics and public policy with experience in economic development research, database management, macroeconomic analysis, and microdata analysis based on surveys.
You will work with the Andean Region Economic Team, which is part of the Andean Country Department (CAN). This team is responsible for promoting and developing the Bank's strategies and programming in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The department supports the process, negotiation, and administration of country-specific and regional projects and programs; leads and maintains the IDBโs relations with these member countries; supports the execution of country-specific operations; promotes and coordinates the use of funds managed by the Bank or under parallel financing agreements; monitors the macroeconomic environment of Andean Region countries; conducts economic and sectoral studies; organizes workshops to strengthen knowledge capacity; and tracks procurement activities related to operations carried out by the Bankโs borrowers and beneficiaries.
What youโll do
The objective of this consultancy is to support the Regional Economic Advisorโs team in conducting development-oriented research, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing and reviewing Bank documents.
Main Activities:
โข Support the design and preparation of the department's research agenda.
โข Coordinate and assist in the technical approach of the research program (management, survey instruments, sampling, and data collection).
โข Identify, compile, and organize databases.
โข Conduct econometric and statistical analyses.
โข Perform computer programming.
โข Prepare literature reviews.
โข Draft documents and co-author a research paper.
โข Coordinate and maintain close communication with the Bankโs country economists.
What you'll need
-Education: Bachelorโs degree in economics, Master preferred, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. with Proficiency in Stata, R, or Python
-Experience: 4 years of progressive experience in economic development analysis and/or relevant education in the field.
Desirable knowledge in in Stata, R, or Python.
-Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Type of contract and duration
International consultant: Full-Time, 12 months (up to 36 months).
