Organizational Setting

 

The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, \"Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection\". This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme's objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.

The Division of Human Health is organized into four Sections whose objectives are to enhance the capabilities of Member States to address needs related to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health problems through the development and application of nuclear techniques within a framework of quality assurance.

 

 

Main Purpose

 

The main purpose of the consultancy is to provide technical input and expertise in the the production and delivery of media articles and visual presentations for internal events in the Division of Human Health as well as to prepare media articles for the IAEA and other entities.

 

Functions / Key Results Expected

 

Identify on a regular basis the communications and information need of the Division and the Department within the area of human health.

Drive strategic external communications by devising and managing proactive content across the IAEA's digital platforms and social media accounts.

Conceptualize, research and publish web articles and press releases on the Division's R&D activities, successes, achievements, best practices, and flagship initiatives in easy-to-understand language and styles for diverse, non-specialist audiences.

Draft speeches for the Director of the Division of Human Health and for the Deputy Director General and Director General as requested; divisional reports; and briefs based on scientific and programmatic inputs received from the expert staff across the Division's Sections.

Prepare texts for a range of public information materials including brochures, flyers, exhibition materials, publications and presentations.

Collaborate with brand, multimedia, graphic design, communications, press and social media colleagues to ensure an integrated, consistent approach on visuals and messaging within human health.

Develop communications and engagement strategies for high-level external events, conferences, forums, panels and symposia.

Organize and provide technical input with regards to outreach activities including side events, exhibitions, donor briefings and presentations in cooperation with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Provide technical support to Divisional outputs, Section Heads and technical officers, including proofreading, editing and quality checks.

Qualifications and Experience

Advanced university degree (masters) in International Marketing, Communications, International Relations or other related field.

Minimum five years of working experience in reviewing multimedia content and articles at national or international level.

Experience in designing promotional and outreach material.

Experience in formulating communications strategies for international events.

Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset

 

 

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 250, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
