DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The WHOโ€“WMO Climate and Health Joint Office supports Members and partners by improving access to climate, environmental and health information and advancing action on priorities such as extreme heat, climate-sensitive diseases and climate services for health.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Health Web and Digital Communications Consultant will work remotely, in close coordination with technical teams, partners, and contractors to support the digital implementation of the Joint Programmeโ€™s strategic communications priorities.

The Consultant will provide operational, editorial and technical support, ensuring seamless and timely delivery and implementation of high-quality, strategic and approved digital communications and engagement materials (digital content, outreach materials, events support, and knowledge products), in alignment with WHO and WMO priorities.

Supporting the implementation of the Programmeโ€™s Engagement Strategy, in close collaboration with the Communications Manager, key responsibilities include:

- Execute day-to-day operational digital communications activities across platforms and partners, producing regular digital content (social media, web features, digests and newsletters);

- Provide technical, editorial and design support (presentations, publications);

- Manage daily content, updates and improvements for the ClimaHealth.info and heathealth.info websites;

- Provide overall communications and project management support ahead of ongoing and major events (Open Forums, regional meetings and other technical engagements) as required;

- Produce regular feedback and summary reports of website, social media and content performance;

- Convene and support the website editorial board and regularly communicate with experts for quality control of content;

- Provide support for desktop publishing, design, photography and multimedia production as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: First university degree in Communications, Information Management, Computer Science, Health related disciplines, Public Health, Climate and Environmental Science; Development Studies, Geography, Natural Resources, or related disciplines.

Desirable: Master's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
Experience
Essential: 5 to 10 years of experience at a national or international level in communicating scientific content to targeted, diverse audiences (climate change, extreme weather, natural hazards and public health content experience desirable) on digital channels;

Wordpress-based website management;

Demonstrated experience and proficiency in content creation, desktop publishing, graphic design, multimedia/video content production (videos, reels), communication campaigns, and corporate social media accounts;

Previous experience in supporting international meetings and/or events remotely and digitally.

Desirable: Relevant professional experience in public health, climate or meteorological science, data and information management, web development or science communications;

Relevant professional experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning;

Expertise or sound knowledge of WHO and WMO mandate and goals, including United Nations publishing guidelines;

Knowledge of the Joint Programme's communication channels and initiatives.

Other requirements
Excellent writing, communication and prioritization with proven track record of delivering on time, working independently and efficiently under tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Languages
Expert knowledge of English. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is desirable.
