Compliance Manager*
in Syria/Tรผrkiye/Lebanon
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year and very good prospects for extension. While Damascus, Syria is the preferred duty station, some flexibility may be considered under specific circumstances. The position is paid according to SG8.
The Compliance Manager will lead on the development, implementation, and oversight of Welthungerhilfeโs corporate compliance framework within the Syria, Turkey, and Lebanon operations. S/he will be responsible for ensuring adherence to WHHโs Code of Conduct, compliance policies, and donor requirements, while supporting the prevention, detection, and investigation of compliance risks, including fraud, corruption, conflict of interest, safeguarding, and anti-terrorism regulations. The Compliance Manager will provide technical guidance and training to staff, oversee compliance investigations, and support corrective actions in collaboration with relevant departments. In addition, s/he will work closely with WHHโs Head Office Legal & Compliance Team in Germany to strengthen regional compliance standards, contribute to cross-country investigations, and ensure policy implementation across Country Offices in the region. The Compliance Manager will also represent WHH in external networks and coordination platforms, act as a key liaison for compliance matters with donors and stakeholders, and promote a strong culture of accountability, integrity, and transparency in line with WHHโs global strategy.
Your responsibilities
Fraud & Corruption Prevention, Conflict of Interest Management, anti-terrorism processes, Data Protection and Safeguarding, and Complaint Response Mechanism for sensitive complaints. Depending on the country context, specific topics can be adjusted in alignment with the Head of Legal & Compliance at Head Office in Germany. Provide functional leadership to in-country staff regarding Corporate Compliance matters. Implement and strengthen the Corporate Compliance Program in the Country Office in line with WHHโs global Corporate Compliance System. Conduct compliance investigations in connection with the Syria, Tรผrkiye, and Lebanon operations, including drafting investigation reports and developing corrective measures. Beyond the compliance activities for our Country Offices in Syria, Tรผrkiye, and Lebanon, closely work with and support the WHH Head Office Legal & Compliance Team in regional corporate compliance matters. This includes working with other Country Offices in the Middle East Region, conducting compliance investigations for those offices, supporting the implementation of compliance policies and providing training. Create and maintain awareness of the Code of Conduct and compliance-related policies and conduct training in all fields of corporate compliance. Support the Country Director in compliance-related strategic and tactical decisions. Closely cooperate with functions particularly exposed to compliance risks, such as HR, IT, Finance, Logistics, Procurement, and Data Protection. Act as a relay between the Country Office, other Country Offices, and the Head Office for compliance-related matters. Where relevant, represent WHH in expert meetings, associations, and networks (e.g. INGO Network), promote compliance aspects of our work, and represent WHH as a compliance-sensitive organization.Your profile
University Degree in a relevant field such as law, management, administration, accounting/finance Minimum 5 years of experience and knowledge of corporate compliance risk management activities English and Arabic are required; Turkish is an advantage.Our offer
