Work LocationNairobi Expected duration12 MONTHS Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe UN Environment Programme is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEPโ€™s Communication Division communicates UNEPโ€™s core messages to all stakeholders and partners, raising environmental awareness and enhancing the profile of UNEP worldwide. UNEP has an exciting portfolio of campaigns and communication projects that we want to reach diverse audience, especially young ones. These include the Young Champions of the Earth initiative. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual who can work well across a range of teams, producing dynamic multimedia content and leading and coordinating outreach work so that we are inspiring change and communicating effectively. Under the direct supervision of UNEPโ€™s Chief of Public Advocacy and Communication and working very closely with the Chief of Content Production, the consultant will: โ€ข Produce multimedia content linked to Young Champions, other youth-focused campaigns as well as various additional initiatives. โ€ข Lead implementation of the Young Champions project. โ€ข Support other campaigns and initiatives as needed. โ€ข Creating content in support of the partnerships with high-net-worth individuals. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree in journalism, communication, international relations, social sciences or other related field, or a first university degree with an additional two years of qualifying experience is required. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, communication, programme management or related field is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, excellent command of English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
