UNEPโs mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment. We aim to achieve this mission by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. UNEPโs Industry and Economy Division supports partners across governments, private sector and civil society to develop and implement policies, strategies and practices for sustainable development. Located within the Industry and Economy Division, the Resources and Markets Branch enhances the capacity of partners to integrate environmental considerations into economic policies and practices. A particular focus of the Resources and Markets Branch is UNEPโs work related to Green Economy. The Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) brings together expertise of five UN agencies (ILO, UNIDO, UNITAR, UNDP and UNEP) with support from eight funding partner countries to assist twenty-two countries in their sustainable development including Mongolia, Peru, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Mauritius, Ghana, South Africa, Brazil, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Barbados, Guyana, Uruguay, India, Indonesia, Guatemala, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Morocco, Rwanda and Cambodia. In addition, PAGE offers a portfolio of global and regional activities, including global training programmes, South-South Collaboration, knowledge sharing, and outreach and communication. UNEP is providing secretariat services to this multi-year interagency programme. Specific tasks and responsibilities Related to Output 1: โข Identify key opportunities for outreach activities, events and campaigns that foster PAGE visibility; prepare related concept notes and comms materials, initiate and coordinate events with partners, and secure high-level speakers and participants. โข Develop outreach strategies related to events, draft and edit related background and online materials (presentations, briefings, speaking points, press releases), publish related content and secure news coverage. โข Facilitate PAGE partnership through regular communication and outreach support. Related to Output 2: โข Develop clear and engaging PAGE content, branding and key messages to communicate green economy developments and programme achievements. Draft, edit and update related materials to promote the Partnershipโs work (involving writing, preparing presentations, drafting, editing and publishing newsletters, flyer, brochures, online annual reports, country updates, country stories and narratives, articles, etc.). โข Advise on the application of PAGE publication guidelines for publications of the Partnership, in cooperation with all PAGE agencies (development of templates, common features, coordination with editors, layout, proofreading and quality assurance). Related to Output 3: โข Guide the overall development and communication strategy of the PAGE website and deliver related content and stories. Draft and edit text in coordination with colleagues from PAGE Secretariat, Agencies and Partner countries. Secure the functioning of technical website settings, creation of new features and continous improvements. โข Guide and ensure relevant social media engagement and identify and establish new channels and partnerships for publicizing PAGE and its results. Related to Output 4 โข Engage with focal points for PAGE countries, and in consultation with PAGE Secretariat and PAGE Agencies, support the development of country specific communication strategies and materials. โข Identify country achievements jointly with country partners and help publize them widely. Advise on on PAGE publication guidelines and their application for country reports and other country documents. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Masters or equivalent degree) in relevant subject e.g. communications, journalism, environmental or sustainability studies, environmental economics, international relations. 5 years of work experience in communication and global outreach related to sustainable development, environment or economics, including experience with high-level events, drafting and designing communication materials, and experience related to journalism and digital communication, including leading digital project management. Experience in working in an international and multi-stakeholder context is an advantage. LanguagesExcellent proven communication and writing skills in English are required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage. Additional InformationNot available.
