ย Context
IOM opened an office in Ireland in 2001. Ireland became a full member government of IOM in 2002. IOM Ireland provides with programming activities in the following areas of migration management: Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration, Resettlement, Family Reunification, Counter-Trafficking, Protection, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
The proposed project is designed to support the International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS), of the Department of Children, Integration, Equality, Disability and Youth, to provide international protection applicants residing in Citywest and potentially other Centres in the Dublin area, with Community-Based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (CB MHPSS)[1] through Psychosocial Mobile Teams, with the aim of improving psychosocial well-being from a bio-psychological, socio-relational and cultural perspective and strengthening the overall resilience of beneficiaries, who have recently applied for International Protection (IP) in Ireland.
Under the overall supervision of Senior Project Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator Assistant, the incumbent will support in the implementation of project activities related to the provision of counselling services to international protection applicants hosted in transit accommodation centres in Ireland.
- Assist in the cultural mediation activity, by facilitating communication between service providers and migrants (from English into different migrantsโ mother tongue and vice versa), and always respecting the principles of neutrality, accuracy, impartiality, confidentiality;
- Provide support to the International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) staff in Citywest to interpretate from English into different migrantsโ languages;
- Assist the international protection (IP) applicants in understanding of administrative procedures;
- Assist through interpretation in collection of information and data and case identification and referrals;
- Support the international protection (IP) applicants when reaching out to service providers in Citywest through interpretation and mediation support. This could include, when needed, assistance in the completion of relevant forms;
- Assist in the identification of vulnerabilities and refer to IPAS for their onward referral to appropriate services in Ireland;
- Support through interpretation provision the relevant IOM Implementing Partners (IPs) in the implementation of psychosocial support and community engagement activities for the IP applicants in Citywest;
- Conduct outreach activities to support delivery of MHPSS services to facilitate the activities of mental health professionals (i.e. counsellors and psychotherapists) in services delivery;
- Support the mental health professionals to organize general counselling sessions and focus group discussions, as well as psycho-education activities, by providing interpretation assistance. Interpretation for the individual sessions might also be provided remotely (phone or online);
- Prepare all relevant documentation related to the project and regular report to the Project Management Team on the activities performed in Citywest;
- Any other related task, as required. Education
- High school Diploma with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience
- University degree with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience;
- Completion of trainings in cultural mediation for mental health settings, and competence in the MHPSS specialized vocabulary would be an asset. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in cultural mediation in the framework of migrantsโ assistance.
- Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU Agencies and/or Irish law enforcements or Governmentโs Departments would be an asset.
- Knowledge of PFA and IASC guidelines for MHPSS in emergencies, as well as health and migration administrative procedures is an advantage.
- Valid driverโs license with at least five years driving experience an advantage. Skills
