ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
WFP aims to nationalize projects, whereby national capacity strengthening, and local community engagement is key to ensure that activities are owned and carried forward by the communities and national authorities. Therefore, WFP Armenia Country Office has identified the need to hire a Business Support Assistant (Programme) who will support the field offices to oversee interventions and work with the beneficiaries. The role will be under the management of the Field Office Coordinator.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):Under the overall guidance of the Head of the Programme unit and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate (Coordinator of Field Office Operations and Field Work), the Business Support Assistant (Programme) is expected to be responsible for the following duties:
โข Support to mobilize beneficiary communities/community members to action leading to increased ownership as well as active engagement in the projects.
โข Support to identify how communities can be stimulated to engage in the projects, share ownership, take their own decisions, plan actions, and provide their solutions to reach shared objectives and goals
โข Support FO staff to plan, implement and oversee WFP supported interventions.
โข Provide project management and/or general office support following established targets and WFPโs policies and procedures.
โข Within the area of responsibility, compile data and support preparation of reports to advise operational decision-making.
โข Support to build close coordination and communication with project target groups and communities ensuring that the project interventions are implemented in an effective and efficient manner.
โข Support to Identify needs and challenges hindering project implementation as well as the opportunities to enhance beneficiary participation and ownership
โข Deliver programmatic/technical trainings or awareness sessions and knowledge improvement materials to the target groups of the community.
โข Organize and participate in all project field-level events (practical training on collaboration between the local
government and communities, consultations with communities, mobilization of venerable people)
โข Perform other related duties, as required.
Deliverables at the end of the contract:
- Support to programme team is provided
- Capacity strengthening and TA is provided to beneficiaries
- Reports are delivered
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A college/bachelorโs degree in Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Economics, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Socioeconomics, or other relevant fields is considered an asset.
Experience: 3 yearsโ experience of working with community development projects, including contribution to the implementation of programmes, observance or assistance with policy discussions activities for an NGO, government institution, UN Agency.
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent training and facilitation and community mobilization skills. Knowledge of community mobilization and livelihood requirements. Ability and willingness to work in the communities, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Solid understanding of the local context where the project's activities take place. General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations, and procedures is desirable.
Language: Fluency in Armenian, English, and Russian languages.
