The Corporate Risk Management Department (CRM), under the Corporate Risk & Finance Vice-Presidency, provides corporate-wide portfolio and risk oversight of IFC's debt, equity, and treasury portfolios, as well as managing IFC's overall capital position and financial sustainability. Within CRM, the Financial Sustainability team is responsible for overseeing the financial projections, developing financial forecasts and projections, and closely interacting with the other teams in the department and in IFC.ย 
CRMDR is conducting a search for an Associate Risk Officer to join an international dynamic team based in Washington, DC.ย ย Duties and Accountabilities:ย โ€ข ย  Contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance, and application of forecasting tools to support strategic IFC decision making.โ€ข ย  Perform scenario analysis, and contribute to the enhancement of IFCโ€™s financial performance forecasting toolkit.โ€ข ย  Contribute to reports to the Management team on IFCโ€™s CUR, cash needs, quarterly forecasting updates and related periodic requests.โ€ข ย  Contribute and support IFCโ€™s internal work on rating agencies modeling and data collection for IFCโ€™s investmentsโ€ข ย  Prepare ad-hoc quantitative analytics related to IFCโ€™s investment portfolio.โ€ข ย  Calculation and reporting of IFC capital utilization ratio and three year cash needsโ€ข ย  Contribute to project or research efforts directly (or tangentially) related to the Financial Forecasting.ย โ€ข ย  Ensure, together with your colleagues, that implementation and model design is consistent with model-risk management practice.ย โ€ข ย  A solid appreciation of new tools and techniques; careful data collection, continuous analysis, and comprehensive reporting represent an integral part of the responsibilities.โ€ข ย  Collaborate with various departments on different corporate initiativesโ€ข ย  Work consistently towards increasing personal technical knowledge and capacity.ย 

Selection Criteria

โ€ข ย  Excellent understanding and practical hands-on experience with mathematical modelling with preferably applications in Finance.โ€ข ย  Fundamental understanding and experience with the conceptual functioning of banking institutions and their strategic challenges.ย โ€ข ย  knowledge and understanding of financial markets, financial-instrument features, and the central notions of corporate finance.โ€ข ย  Good programming skills with practical experience with (one or more of) the following interpreted languages: MATLAB, R, Octave, Python, Maple, Mathematica, S-Plus, SQL, etc. Exposure and experience with professional programming languages (i.e., C, C++, C#, or Java) is a plus.โ€ข ย  Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complicated ideas in both spoken and written form. A history of technical publicationโ€”via journal, working, or discussion papersโ€”is a strong plus.โ€ข ย  Practical problem-solving skills, creative-thinking, team player, and self-motivator.ย โ€ข ย  A focus on quality and execution along with a proven ability to perform multiple tasks and to handle pressure and meet strict deadlines.ย ย โ€ข ย  Advanced degree (MSc., or equivalent) in finance, physics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related areas with a strong technical and quantitative background.ย โ€ข ย  Complete fluency with data-base management, computer programming, and system-related project-management concepts.โ€ข ย  Good understanding of the drivers of assets returns.โ€ข ย  Good understanding of accounting principles.โ€ข ย  Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to present complex and technical issues in simple terms.ย โ€ข ย  A willingness to contribute across the entire model-life cycle analysis, implementation, and problem-solving up to stakeholder reporting and communication of results.โ€ข ย  Minimum of 4 yearsโ€™ working experience in either financial modelling or risk management.ย โ€ข ย  Minimum of 4 yearsโ€™ working experience in a technical discipline with elements of system development, construction, and maintenance.ย
