1. Organizational Context ย 

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) aims to enhance understanding and capacity in intellectual property (IP) management by developing tools to manage intellectual property rights (IPRs) throughout the innovation process. This includes the stages of ideation, development, manufacturing, branding, and marketing for products across diverse industries, including (but not limited to) innovative, creative, green, and IP-intensive sectors.ย 

To support this goal, WIPO has launched a program that focuses on IPRs impacting industries, production processes, and business strategies. By selecting specific products from targeted companies, the program conducts in-depth analysis to generate insights. Known as the IP Management Clinic Program, this initiative spans more than 40 countries, with at least 20 clinics scheduled for 2025.ย 


2. Objective of the assignmentย 

The Associate Project Consultant will provide comprehensive support to the IP for Business Division (IPBD) to ensure the successful implementation of the IP Management Clinics Program. Responsibilities will include designing contracts and managing experts, organizing online and onsite capacity-building events, identifying and onboarding relevant experts, conducting research and analyzing data on countryโ€™s innovation ecosystems and specific industries, and support the development of content related to IP commercialization and management.ย 

Additionally, the Associate Project Consultant will oversee communication and ensure visibility of program activities across relevant platforms. To facilitate effective execution, the Associate Project Consultant may need to travel. In that case, WIPO will purchase the ticket.ย 


3. Deliverables/servicesย 

a) Support the implementation of IPBD programs, particularly the IP Management Clinic Program, ensuring effective engagement and results in Member States.ย 
b) Assist the IPBD team in designing and delivering tools and materials to help businesses maximize the value of intellectual property.ย 
c) Support the development of user-friendly guides, tutorials, and case studies to demonstrate the practical use of IPBD tools and services for target audiences.ย 
d) Make presentations on different aspects of IP management for SMEs and WIPO tools programs and services for SMEs, when requested. ย 
e) Attend meetings and carry out additional tasks as requested by the Director.ย

The Associate Project Consultant will report to the Associate Program Officer ย of IP for Business Division (IPBD). ย 


5. Profile (e.g. area of specialization/expertise, specific knowledge/skills/experience)ย 

Education: A university degree in IP management, law, business administration or similar. ย 

Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, preferably working in an international environment and in particular: ย 

(a) Knowledge of intellectual property. ย 
(b) Good experience in the development of IP related projects on national/international levelsย 
(c) Good experience and skills in conducting research and gathering relevant information/data independently.ย 
(d) Understanding of how companies leverage IP for business development.ย 

Competencies: ย 

(a) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. ย 
(b) Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint) and the internet. ย 
(d) Excellent written and oral skills. ย 
(e) Excellent analytical and organizational skills. ย 

Language: Excellent knowledge of English and at least one other UN language. ย 


6. Duration of contract and paymentย 

The Associate Project Consultant will provide its services full time from October 1, 2025 until September 30, 2026. ย  ย  ย ย 

Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations of a daily rate in either Swiss francs, Euros, British Pounds or USD.ย 

Payment will be made on a monthly basis, subject to satisfactory completion of services and deliverables. ย 


7. Additional informationย 

ICS contractors fall outside the coverage of employment contracts for WIPO Staff members and are not subject to the WIPO Staff Regulations and Rules. The contractor has no entitlement to vacation or sick leave, except for WIPO official holidays, or to medical insurance or staff pension. Absences from work will be deducted from the contractorโ€™s payment on a pro-rated basis.ย
