Unit Context
The Infrastructure Engineering team is instrumental in advancing the World Bank Groupโ€™s mission by designing, building, and maintaining the foundational IT infrastructure that supports global operations. The team manages critical infrastructure components end-to-end, including data centers, infrastructure as code, enterprise networks, storage systems, compute resources, virtualization platforms, and disaster recovery solutions. Their efforts ensure that infrastructure services are robust, secure, scalable, and cost-effective, forming the backbone for reliable digital services across all business units.
Committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement, Infrastructure Engineering proactively monitors and optimizes infrastructure performance to meet evolving business needs. Role
Associate Infrastructure Engineer, responsible for the design, development, implementation, and operation of enterprise cloud network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข The ideal candidate will combine network engineering and programming skills.

โ€ข Work with AWS/Azure platforms, leverage native automation tools, and develop custom scripts.โ€ข Work with Terraform, Ansible, TFS and Python to develop cloud network pipeline.

โ€ข Once given the project requirements, will use modern scripting languages and automation engines to automate network tasks.โ€ข Use APIs to integrate the automation tasks with other enterprise systems.

โ€ข Enhance the teamโ€™s proactive monitoring capability by creating automated reports/alerts for network events.โ€ข Maintaining WBGโ€™s Cloud Network infrastructure in AWS, Azure, Oracle OCI and emerging cloud platforms.

โ€ข Monitoring the performance and diagnosing problems in all aspects of the network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, WAN accelerators, DHCP, DNS), so that acceptable levels of performance are always maintained.โ€ข Enhancing the teamโ€™s proactive monitoring capability by creating automated reports/alerts (using Splunk) for network events.ย 

โ€ข Updating documentation (drawings, spreadsheets, procedures) of the network and producing reports in a fashion that is useful for peer and management review.โ€ข Handling escalation calls from the NOC, performing triage, resolving problems, or escalate to team members.

โ€ข Travel as needed to other WBG offices to promote mobility support advocacy, knowledge sharing, and facilitate deployments and improvements.ย ย โ€ข Flexibility to work in shifts including night shift if required.

โ€ข Providing on call support on rotational basis based on the need.

Selection Criteria

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

โ€ข Master's degree with 2 years relevant experience or bachelorโ€™s degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience is required.

โ€ข Network engineering experience is required.Required Skills/Abilities:
โ€ข Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure network concepts and paradigms.

โ€ข Hands-on experience with firewalls (e.g. Palo Alto), virtual and physical, including security policy management and troubleshooting of issues.โ€ข Hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches for IOS, IOSXE and NXOS

โ€ข Hands-on experience with AWS Route53 and AWS APIs.โ€ข Hands-on experience with DDI infrastructure (e.g. Infoblox).

โ€ข Hands-on experience with BIND DNS resolver.โ€ข Hands-on experience with Spanning Tree, OSPF and BGP routing protocols.

โ€ข Solid understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLSM, VLANs, STP, OSFP and BGP.โ€ข Solid understanding of network engineering fundamentals/services: DHCP, OSI model, VRF, VPN, ACLs, GRE, policy-based routing.

โ€ข Working experience in large enterprises using MPLS and VPN.ย  This includes testing and provisioning of links.ย โ€ข Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

โ€ข Ability to quickly grasp new ideas and concepts.Desired Skills/Abilities (not required but highly recommended):

โ€ข Experience with Linux and modern scripting languages (Perl, Python) is desirable.โ€ข Network automation tools including Python, Ansible, GIT, Jenkinsย 

โ€ข Hands-on experience using APIs to import/export/manipulate data from enterprise systems (for ex. ServiceNow).โ€ข Hands-on experience in Linux environments.
