Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Our goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives.
FAO Sub-Regional Office for Central Asia (SEC) is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing strategies for addressing food security, agriculture and rural development priorities in the sub-region; Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The Organizationโs technical assistance includes institution building, development of knowledge and competencies, and exchange of experience among countries facing the challenges of transition.
FAO is implementing a project โSustainable beekeeping and exchange of cooperation between Turkiye and Ukraine\" which aims to improve coordination and information flow among the stakeholders in the beekeeping sectors of Turkiye and Ukraine and enhance capacity of apicultural educators.
Reporting Lines
Under overall supervision of the FAO Subregional Coordinator for Central Asia and the Lead Technical Officer (LTO), direct supervision of International Livestock Specialist (SEC) and in close collaboration with national consultants and in liaison with SEC Field Programme Unit (FPU) / Programme Implementation Unit (PIU), the incumbent will contribute to implementation of the FTPP project GCP/SEC/026/TUR.ย
Technical Focusย
Analysis of apicultural policies and value chains in Tรผrkiye and Ukraine.
Tasks and responsibilities
โข ย ย Coordinate and guide a comprehensive study (assessment) for Tรผrkiye on institutional capacities and policies related to apiculture and assess the needs and gaps
โข ย ย Coordinate and guide a comprehensive study (assessment) for Ukraine on institutional capacities and policies related to apiculture and assess the needs and gaps
โข ย ย Coordinate and guide value chain analysis of key apicultural products in both countriesย
โข ย ย Draft policy recommendations
โข ย ย Organize a review process of the policy studies involving relevant experts from EU
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
โข ย ย University degree in animal production, beekeeping, economics, natural sciences, public administration, or other related fields
โข ย ย At least five years of relevant experience in enhancement of apicultural policies or value chains
โข ย ย Working knowledge of English (level C)
