Purpose of Job
The Analyst works as part of the Financial Institutions Business Group (FIBG), one of the largest departments at EBRD dealing with a wide spectrum of projects in the financial sector fostering competitive and sustainable financial systems in the countries of operation. FIBG handles over EUR 6.5 billion in annual business volume, working with over 330 private clients and a range of public sector stakeholders to promote private sector development and support market economies.
The Analyst will support the implementation of the Green Climate Fund Investment Programme (GCF IP) within FIBG. The GCF IP blends financing of the Bank with co-financing and grant components provided by GCF, the worldโs largest climate fund. The Programme aims to deliver over USD 1.7 billion in climate investments across 13 countries through partnerships with eligible Partner Financial Institutions (PFIs).
The Analyst will provide operational and administrative support to the Principal Banker/GCF Lead and the implementing team. The focus will be on monitoring the utilisation of GCF funds, ensuring compliance with agreed terms, preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, and supporting bankers with financial analysis and documentation for PFI transactions.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
The Analyst will support the execution of GCF IP through the following key responsibilities:
1. Programme Support & Execution
- Support the implementation of GCF-supported financial products through FIBG frameworks, ensuring compliance with the terms agreed with GCF.
- Monitor the deployment of GCF funds in loan co-financing and technical cooperation (TC) components, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing documentation such as term sheets, legal agreements, and certificates for GCF-related transactions.
- Support bankers in structuring transactions under the GCF IP framework, ensuring alignment with internal policies and GCF requirements.
2. Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the main point of contact for internal teams (FI Donor Programmes, Donor Partnerships, Risk, and Legal) regarding the execution of GCF-supported products.
- Coordinate with GCF, partner financial institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of programme objectives.
- Provide guidance to bankers on the use of standard documentation and processes for implementing new GCF-supported facilities.
3. Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor the utilisation of GCF funds and track compliance with the Funded Activity Agreement (FAA).
- Support bankers and operation leaders in preparing donor reports and internal progress updates.
- Prepare relevant certificates and gather necessary documentation for submission to GCF.
- Identify and escalate any risks or issues related to fund deployment or compliance.
4. Support for Business Development
- Assist in preparing concept notes and pitches to clients for new GCF-supported projects.
- Collate market intelligence and feedback to support future programme development.
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing efforts on green financial products within FIBG.
5. Fundraising
- Support preparation of new fund-raising applications from GCF or other providers of blended finance or technical cooperation funding.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Exposure to climate finance, donor-funded programmes, or blended finance structures is an advantage.
- Experience working with financial institutions, including banks and non-bank financial institutions, understanding of the key areas required to assess creditworthiness of banks, non-bank financial institutions as well as leasing companies.
- Familiarity with loan documentation and structuring transactions is desirable.
- High proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of other data visualisation tools is beneficial.
- Ability to track and manage multiple workstreams is required. Ensuring timely execution of tasks is critical for the efficient functioning and timely deployment of GCF IP
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and learn on the job in a dynamic work environment driven by PFI business needs.
- Willingness to travel to the EBRDโs countries of operations, including at a short notice and/or for extended period.
