The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) is an\ninternational organization established to contribute to the macroeconomic and\nfinancial resilience and stability of the ASEAN+3 region - comprising 10\nmembers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and China; Hong\nKong, China; Japan; and Korea - through macroeconomic surveillance, supporting\nregional financing arrangements (RFAs), and providing technical assistance (TA)\nto members. In addition, it serves as a regional knowledge hub (RKH) and\nfacilitates ASEAN+3 financial cooperation.\n\n\n\n
AMRO\nis seeking a visionary leader for the position of Director. The\nresponsibility of this pivotal role is to the organization to ensure\nefficient and timely surveillance of ASEAN+3 economies during both peace and\ncrisis time, and any other related work set by the Executive Committee in accordance\nwith the Agreement Establishing AMRO.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The AMRO Director will\nperform the following functions:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
a) Provide the Executive Committee with\nperiodic assessments of macroeconomic and financial conditions and policies in\nthe region.\n\n
b) Be accountable to the Executive\nCommittee and subject to its general control.\n\n
c) Be chief of the staff of AMRO and,\nunless the Executive Committee decides otherwise, be responsible for the\norganization, appointment and dismissal of staff and overall performance of\nAMRO.\n\n
d) Represent AMRO and conduct the current\nbusiness of AMRO.\n\n
e) Submit to the Executive Committee an\nannual report.\n\n
f) Submit\nto the Executive Committee a plan of the staffing levels, annual budget, and\nannual work programme of AMRO for review and approval.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
QUALIFICATIONS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Successful candidates\nshould possess:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
a) Outstanding professional capability in\nthe fields of macroeconomics and international finance, in-depth knowledge and\nexperience in macroeconomic policy-making; demonstrate extensive experience in\nregional macroeconomic monitoring and analysis.\n\n
b) Good and wide network contacts\ninternationally and extensive engagements in international economic and\nfinancial cooperation.\n\n
c) Considerable\nexperience in leading diverse teams in an international or regional\ncross-cultural environment and proven capability to manage an organization of\nthe complexity and size of AMRO to ensure high performance, organizational\nefficiency and financial robustness.\n\n
d) Excellent communication skills and\neffective interactions with key policymakers at regional and global levels.\n\n
e) Overall leadership and vision in the\nformulation and implementation of the organizational strategies for AMRO's\nfuture development and regional financial cooperation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
TERM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The AMRO\nDirector will serve a three-year term, with the possibility of a one-time\nextension for up to three additional years. The selected candidate is expected to join AMRO\nin May 2025.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
