Your team
Within the Directorate of People, the Medical Service, part of the CARE Service, plays a key role in fostering a healthy and supportive work environment. The CARE Service provides staff with access to a range of resources, including psychosocial support, medical services, workplace mediation, and occupational safety advice. The service collaborates closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that its support services are aligned with broader people strategies and effectively address the diverse needs of individuals and teams.
The Agency Medical Adviser is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering medical services across the Agency. This includes overseeing occupational, aviation, social insurance, and preventive medicine. The role ensures compliance with EUROCONTROL, European and international regulations and standards (ICAO/EASA), and actively contributes to staff well-being and medico-statutory processes through close collaboration with the Head of CARE, HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and other internal partners. S/he provides strategic medical advice, harmonises policies, manages health projects, and promotes staff well-being through collaboration and continuous service improvement.
Your role
Your role will be to:
- Lead and oversee the operations of the medical team (1.5 staff and 3 external Medical Advisers) by planning activities, allocating resources, defining roles, and monitoring output.
Required qualifications, experience & competencies
University studies in Medicine, attested by a medical degree (European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 7) recognised in a EUROCONTROL Member State. A diploma in Occupational Medicine is considered an asset. If not yet obtained, the selected candidate will be required to enrol and complete the programme upon recruitment. Completion of an advanced course in Aviation Medicine, according to EASA standards is an asset. If not yet completed, the candidate will be required to undertake the advanced course upon recruitment. A diploma in Insurance Medicine is considered an asset. Registration with, or certification by, the competent statutory professional body or authority for medical doctors in a EUROCONTROL Member State, authorising the holder to practise medicine, is required. A minimum of 10 yearsโ relevant professional experience as a general practitioner, internist or in other relevant medical disciplines (acquired after obtaining the degree in medicine). Experience in the disciplines of aviation medicine, occupational medicine or insurance medicine is an asset. Experience in working in a civil servant service or in an international organisation would be an advantage. Experience in managing, supervising or coordinating professionals, including effective coordination of activities such as strategic planning, resource allocation, and budgeting. Experience in management of organisational and service-related activities (e.g. medical service management, coordination of activities, relationship management). Experience in coordinating and engaging with stakeholders across different functions, such as doctors, medical teams, HR, and regulatory bodies. Writing skills. Ability to draft clear, accurate medical documentation in English for internal and external audiences. Managing people: You implement effective people-management practices. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient in English at level C1 (oral & written) and at least at level A1/2 in French, preferably at level B1. If not, the selected candidate will be required to obtain level B1 in French by the end of the probation period.The levels relate to the European-framework-reference Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).
