Organizational Setting
The Director General's Office (DGO) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States' needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management.
The Office of Public Information and Communication (OPIC) plays a vital role in advancing the IAEAโs mission by delivering objective, accurate, and timely information about the Agency and global nuclear developments. Through strategic communication efforts, OPIC fosters public understanding of the safe, secure, and peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, as well as the IAEAโs global roles.
OPIC advises the Director General on media relations, organizes press briefings and interviews, develops digital platforms and campaigns, and coordinates communication activities across the Agency. It supports major IAEA events and conferences by managing media engagement, creative content production and ensures effective internal communication within the organization. The Office also manages the Agencyโs Visitor Centre and related outreach activities to attract and engage visitors.
The Web, Digital Media and Public Information Materials Section, operating under OPIC, holds corporate responsibility for editorial oversight, content creation, digital media outreach and campaigns, and the development of information products. It manages the Agencyโs platforms for both internal and external communication, as well as the Seibersdorf Visitor Centre (SVC). The Section plays a key role in enhancing the IAEAโs visibility and public engagement by producing high-quality web and social media content in multiple languages, including public information campaigns, graphic design, and outreach to educational institutions for guided tours of the SVC. Through strong corporate branding and compelling storytelling, it supports the Agencyโs communication objectives and strengthens public awareness and understanding of the IAEAโs mission and activities.

Main Purpose
The Seibersdorf Visitors Centre (SVC) seeks to enhance public knowledge and understanding of the safe, secure and the peaceful use of nuclear science, technology and applications and of the IAEAโs work and role through guided tours and interactive exhibits.ย
The Advocacy and Outreach Officer is reporting directly to the Head of the Web, Digital Media and Public Information Materials Section and he/she ensures and contributes to increasing awareness of the work of the IAEA by conducting outreach to educational institutions and assisting with the SVC operations including the guided tours of the Seibersdorf Labs and the SVC exhibits for all visitors.ย

Role
The Advocacy and Outreach Officer will be based in the IAEA Laboratories in Seibersdorf and plays several key roles : 1) an outreach and advocacy coordinator, able to design and implement impactful outreach strategies, advocacy campaigns and communication plans 2) a specialist, analysing and advising on outreach, guided tours and advocacy communications. 3) a partnership builder, developing collaborative relationships with educational institutions and other strategic stakeholders 4) a technical lead providing guidance and coordination oversight to the Associate Public Information Officer (Tour Guide) aimed to ensure a smooth and positive tour experience.

Functions / Key Results Expected
- Develop and implement advocacy and outreach strategies to attract educational institutions (with a focus to universities and high schools) in Austria and neighboring countries for group visits, including developing communication materials, conducting outreach activitiesย
- Develop and implement advocacy, social media and outreach campaigns to raise awareness of the SVC and raise its profile among global digital audiencesย
- Produce engaging content on the SVC, including social media posts, stories, photos, short videos, multimedia content for dissemination on the IAEA website and social media channels. Work closely with OPIC colleagues to develop social media campaigns for target audiences
- Monitor, analyse and report on outreach activities and digital campaigns to assess their performance and effectiveness, striving for continuous improvement
- Support visibility efforts by coordinating the design and overseeing production of marketing materials customized to various audiencesย
- Ensure consistent branding and creative direction at the SVC - including the design, planning and conceptualizing of new content and productsย
- Oversee the production โ including research, drafting, script writing, printing and distribution - of public information materials related to the SVCย
- Act as a primary point of contact for a wide range of stakeholders (VIPs, diplomats, educators, general visitors, UN system colleagues), providing information, addressing inquiries, and resolving complaints tactfully.
- Coordinate and monitor daily tour operations, including scheduling tours and assigning duties for VIPs and special requests, ensuring smooth and professional visitor experiences

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills
Bachelor's Degree - University degree in journalism, international relations, public affairs, science or a related field.
At least five years of practical work experience in communication and public information.ย
Experience in developing and implementing successful advocacy and outreach campaigns or initiatives desirable.ย
Experience in guided tours for the public and of working with high school or university students is desirable.ย
Working with an international organization in a communication and public information office is an asset.ย

Remuneration
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $70212 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 39249*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance.
