Camp Coordination and Camp Information Management Officer

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the worldโ€™s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. DRC has implemented projects in Central Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Port Sudan, and White Nile. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Central African Republic, Chad, Yemen and Syria. Against a background of political crisis, Sudan faces economic and social turmoil, with sharp increases in food and energy costs, further exacerbated by disease outbreaks and ongoing conflict.

POSITION PROFILE

Under the direct supervision of the CCCM Manager, the Information Management (IM) Officer is responsible for managing information systems, tools, and reporting processes to support DRCโ€™s Site Management Support (SMS) operations in Central and North Darfur. The position ensures that information related to site coordination, service mapping, community feedback, and population data is collected, cleaned, analyzed, and shared in a timely and accurate manner to support evidence-based decision-making. The IM Officer provides technical support to CCCM field teams, oversees data management and visualization tools, ensures adherence to data protection and accountability standards, and strengthens internal and external information flow with partners, clusters, and authorities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities and Tasks

To achieve the overall and specific positionโ€™s objectives the job holder tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program Implementation and Information Management

Ensure quality implementation of DRCโ€™s CCCM Information Management activities, including data collection, analysis, visualization, and reporting. Design, develop, maintain, and update CCCM databases and dashboards to track site conditions, population movements, service delivery, and feedback mechanisms. Design and adapt data collection tools using Kobo and other digital platforms in line with DRC and Cluster requirements. Consolidate, clean, and validate data received from field teams and partners; identify gaps and follow up to ensure completeness and accuracy. Produce information products (e.g., service mapping, site profiles, population updates, dashboards, maps) for internal use and external coordination. Support the organization and presentation of information for site coordination meetings and humanitarian coordination forums at the field and state levels.

Reporting and Analysis

Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly CCCM IM reports and ensure timely submission to the Team Leader and CCCM Technical Coordinator. Provide data analysis to inform programming, advocacy, and coordination, highlighting trends and priority needs. Support data entry and management for Complaints and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) and ensure confidentiality and timely sharing of relevant cases with protection and accountability focal points. Liaise with DRCโ€™s MEAL teams to align CCCM IM tools with organization-wide data standards and contribute to assessments and evaluations.

Capacity Building and Technical Support

Build the capacity of CCCM staff, community committees, and partners on data collection, Kobo usage, and data protection principles. Provide technical support to field teams on IM procedures, reporting formats, and information quality assurance. Ensure sex- and age-disaggregated data (SADD) is consistently collected and analyzed across CCCM activities.

Representation and Coordination

Participate in sub-national CCCM Cluster IM Working Groups and contribute to harmonized data systems and reporting standards. Coordinate with WASH, Shelter/NFI, and Protection partners to ensure updated service mapping and referral linkages. Maintain collaborative relations with stakeholders regarding data sharing and reporting processes.

Accountability and Protection Mainstreaming

Ensure that data collection and storage comply with DRCโ€™s data protection and confidentiality policies. Contribute to DRCโ€™s accountability framework by supporting feedback mechanisms, ensuring transparency and information sharing with affected populations. Promote inclusion, gender balance, and participation of diverse community groups in information collection and site governance processes.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

Essential:

Minimum 2 years of professional experience in information management, data analysis, or MEAL roles within humanitarian or development organizations. Proficiency in Kobo Toolbox, Excel (advanced), and data visualization software (Power BI, or similar). Experience in database management, data cleaning, and mapping. Strong understanding of CCCM, protection, or WASH in displacement contexts. Proven ability to train and support staff on IM systems and tools. Strong communication, coordination, and report-writing skills in both English and Arabic.

Desirable:

Experience working with CCCM or in IDP site operations. Knowledge of GIS (QGIS or ArcGIS).

Familiarity with Sudanese humanitarian context and data confidentiality principles.

Education:

University degree in Information Management, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

LANGUAGES

Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory.
